DAVAO CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA)- Home to a burgeoning independent film scene, Davao City will host a three-day celebration of the centenary of Philippine Cinema.
Dubbed as “Sandaan: The Davao Films Retrospective,” the film event slated on October 3-5 at the Cross Theater of the Holy Cross of Davao College will feature film screenings of the early independent films produced in Mindanao alongside film talks and forum by film industry speakers.
“This year marks the centennial celebration of Philippine Cinema. The whole country is taking pride in showcasing our classic films here and abroad. It is a significant time also for us Dabawenyos to look back at how our filmmaking started and evolved through the films made by our very own filmmakers,” said filmmaker Jarell Serencio who initiated and co-organized the event alongside local indie film stakeholders.
